About this course

The Backstage Academy Rigging Course has been designed to give everyone who has contact with rigging a better understanding of rigging hardware, from shackle to motor to truss, and its correct application and capacity.

The course offers something for all skill levels including:

  • Technicians who work solely on the ground but should have an understanding of what goes on overhead
  • Venue staff who need to be sure that any rigging in their venue is carried out correctly and safely
  • Riggers who are responsible for the safe installation of the equipment
  • ...and everyone in between.

The course runs over two consecutive days, with a split between classroom style training, and practical hands-on sessions.

  • Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and Standards
  • Personal Protective Equipment Types and Applications
  • Introduction to the Plasa NRC Scheme
  • Hardware Application, Baskets, Bridles, etc...
